Secrets Starbucks Doesn’t Want You To Know

I got a kick out of an article written by Michael Koretzky and posted on moneytalknews.com. It got the inside scoop from a Starbucks barista not only about ways to save some money but some things they do to customers.

The list of money saving tips include a way to get a free cup on your birthday, free wi-fi, the 54 cent refill, and the 10 cents for reusing your cup. What wasn’t mentioned was that Starbucks shareholders get a coffee card for a free drink each year (at least they have for every year I can remember) – you heard it here first. ????

The amusing but disturbing part of the article is what the barista says they do to customers that are unfriendly. The mean customer gets “decaffed”, meaning that the barista’s sneak in decaf so the customer does not get the buzz they’re looking for. I was thinking to myself, “Okay, I imagine that some customers deserve this” but she goes on to say they do it a few times an hour. It kinda conjures up the the old stories we all heard about what fast food employees would do to hamburgers. Enough said. Hmmm. As an owner of Starbucks stock and a frequent patron, I don’t want to hear about this.

Anyway, the article is a good read so you may want to take a look at it and I can assure you that I will be taking a good hard look at the barista making my next drink.
