Microsoft Goes Paperless

Another April surprise!

Effective late April, Microsoft stopped issuing paper stock certificates and will register stock ownership electronically only. They join a growing list of companies that are eliminating paper including Apple Inc. The whole industry is moving in that direction. We were astonished when Facebook apparently decided to issue paper certificates. Our guess is that it may not last long as their peers go in the other direction. UPDATE: Facebook (Now META) decided to register stocks electronically.

I know that this is the wave of the future but it caught us off guard before we had a chance to add to our collection of collectible paper certificates.

Anyone out there with a Microsoft certificate, especially those with Bill Gates' printed signature, consider yourself lucky.
