Congratulations, shareholder! If you haven’t already, you’ll soon receive either a Direct Registration System (DRS) statement or, if specifically ordered, a registered stock certificate from your company’s transfer agent by mail. Please allow up to seven weeks for delivery of a registered stock certificate; if it hasn’t arrived by then or if there are any issues with it, please contact us.
You will also receive a W-9 (U.S.) W-8BEN (non-U.S.), or NR301 (Canada) tax form requesting your tax ID, such as your social security number, for reporting purposes.
It's critical to:
Keep your address updated with the transfer agent to ensure you receive important mailings, including dividend checks, proxy materials, and invitations to shareholder meetings.
Set up online access with the transfer agent for easy management of your stock account.

DRIP: Indicates if the company offers a Direct Purchase or Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP).
Transfer Agent: The company's agent that handles stock ownership. Contact them for any stock-related questions.
Registered Stock Certificate: Indicates if authentic certificates are available. For AST and EQ, only U.S. shareholders can receive them. Replicas are available for all stocks.
Registered Certificate Fee: The fee to issue an authentic stock certificate.
Important: Do one of the following at least every two years to keep your account active and prevent your shares from being turned over to the state (escheated).
- Log in to your account;
- Cash a dividend check;
- Vote your proxy; or
- Contact the transfer agent.
